AN IMMINENT SECOND ISRAEL – IRAN WAR

Less than a months after the ceasefire that ended the 12-day Israel-Iran war, dubbed “Operation Rising Lion,” Israel is bracing for an imminent second conflict as intelligence reports warn of Iran’s rapid rearmament and plans for retaliation. The Jewish state, having dealt a significant blow to Iran’s nuclear and missile programs in June, now faces a resurgent threat from Tehran, which appears determined to escalate hostilities.

Operation Rising Lion, launched on June 13, 2025, saw Israel execute a daring air campaign that crippled Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, including key sites in Natanz, Isfahan, and Arak, and eliminated over 30 senior Iranian defense officials, including IRGC Commander-in-Chief Hossein Salami. The operation, which also destroyed half of Iran’s ground-to-ground missile launchers and established Israeli air superiority over Tehran, was hailed as a strategic triumph.

Now, fresh intelligence suggests Iran is preparing for a second war. A senior Israeli defense official, speaking anonymously due to the sensitivity of the situation, warned: “Iran has not accepted defeat. They are negotiating with China to acquire advanced air defense systems and fighter jets, and their proxies in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon are being mobilized for a coordinated attack. We are weeks away from a major escalation, and Israel will not hesitate to strike first to protect our people.”

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards intelligence chief, Brigadier General Majid Khademi, recently declared that the ceasefire is merely a “temporary pause” and that Tehran views the conflict as ongoing. Reports also indicate Iran is reorganizing its proxy forces, including Hezbollah and Iraqi militias, for a multi-front assault on Israel. Former Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has warned that “the war between Iran and Israel is not over,” citing Iran’s plans to leverage its regional allies.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, addressing the Knesset yesterday, reiterated Israel’s resolve: “Operation Rising Lion sent a clear message: we will not allow Iran to threaten our existence. If Tehran dares to strike again, our response will be swift and devastating.” This stance comes amid reports that Israel is preparing for a second round of preemptive strikes, potentially targeting remaining Iranian nuclear facilities like Fordow, which sustained limited damage in the first campaign.

The senior Israeli official emphasized the strategic necessity of action: “Iran’s nuclear program, though severely damaged, is being reconstituted. Their missile production is resuming, and their alliances with Russia and China are growing stronger. We cannot allow them to regain the upper hand. The next war will be decisive, and we are ready.”
