Why the U.S. Must Join Israel’s Fight Against Iran’s Nuclear Threat
Matthew Narh Tetteh

Israel’s recent airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities have struck a critical blow against the Islamic Republic’s dangerous ambitions, showcasing the Jewish state’s unmatched military and intelligence prowess. However, the mission to permanently neutralize Iran’s nuclear program—a threat to global security—requires more than Israel’s heroic efforts alone. The United States, as the world’s preeminent superpower, must join forces with Israel, deploying its unparalleled military might, including B-2 Spirit stealth bombers and Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) bombs, to penetrate Iran’s deeply buried nuclear sites and ensure the regime’s nuclear dreams are buried for good. The stakes are existential, and America’s active participation is not just strategic but a moral imperative.
Iran’s nuclear program, designed to produce weapons capable of annihilating entire cities, poses a direct threat to the U.S., its allies, and the global order. A nuclear-armed Iran would empower its terrorist proxies—Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis—to escalate attacks on American interests, from military bases to civilian targets. It would destabilize the Middle East, triggering a nuclear arms race among volatile regimes. Most alarmingly, Iran’s apocalyptic ideology, coupled with its ballistic missile capabilities, puts U.S. cities within reach of a regime that has never wavered in its “Death to America” mantra. Israel’s strikes have delayed this nightmare, but only a joint U.S.-Israel campaign can eliminate it.

The U.S. brings unique capabilities to this fight, particularly in targeting Iran’s fortified underground facilities. Sites like Natanz and Fordow are buried deep beneath mountains, designed to withstand conventional airstrikes. Israel’s bunker-busting munitions have inflicted significant damage, but the U.S. possesses the tools to finish the job. The B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, invisible to radar, can deliver payloads with unmatched precision over long distances. Paired with the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP), a 30,000-pound bomb capable of burrowing through 200 feet of reinforced concrete, the U.S. can obliterate even the most hardened Iranian nuclear sites. The MOAB, while less suited for deeply buried targets, could devastate surface infrastructure critical to Iran’s nuclear supply chain, ensuring no remnant of the program survives.
America’s involvement is not just about firepower but strategic necessity. Israel, despite its remarkable capabilities, faces logistical constraints. Its air force, while elite, lacks the long-range strike capacity and sheer volume of ordnance that the U.S. military can deploy. The U.S. Air Force’s global reach, supported by bases in the Gulf and aircraft carriers in the region, would enable sustained operations against Iran’s sprawling nuclear network. Moreover, U.S. intelligence assets—satellites, cyber capabilities, and signals interception—can complement the Mossad’s already formidable efforts, providing a comprehensive picture of Iran’s clandestine activities. This synergy would ensure no hidden facilities escape destruction.
The urgency of U.S. action cannot be overstated. Iran’s regime has proven adept at rebuilding and concealing its nuclear efforts, exploiting years of Western hesitation. Diplomacy, as evidenced by the failed 2015 nuclear deal and subsequent stalled talks, has only emboldened Tehran. Israel’s strikes have bought time, but without follow-through, Iran will recover, inching closer to a nuclear breakout. The U.S. cannot afford to sit on the sidelines, hoping sanctions or negotiations will suffice. History shows that appeasing tyrants invites disaster—only decisive force can stop a regime hellbent on acquiring the ultimate weapon.
Joining Israel also reinforces America’s credibility as a global leader. Allies from Europe to the Gulf are watching. If the U.S. fails to act, it signals weakness, emboldening adversaries like China and Russia, who already back Iran’s defiance. By contrast, a joint U.S.-Israel operation would demonstrate resolve, deter other rogue states, and strengthen alliances. It would also send a message to Iran’s people, suffering under theocratic oppression, that the free world stands against their tormentors.
Critics will argue that U.S. involvement risks escalation or Iranian retaliation. But the greater risk lies in inaction. A nuclear Iran would hold the world hostage, using its arsenal to blackmail nations and shield its aggression. The U.S. has the power to prevent this, and its military assets—B-2s, MOPs, and MOABs—are purpose-built for the task. Israel has taken the first step, proving that Iran’s defenses are no match for determined action. Now, America must step up, not as a bystander but as a partner, wielding its unmatched might to end the Iranian nuclear threat once and for all.
The U.S. must also provide Israel with immediate support—advanced munitions, real-time intelligence, and missile defense systems—to counter inevitable Iranian reprisals. Joint exercises and coordinated planning should begin now, ensuring seamless integration of U.S. and Israeli forces. This is not just about protecting Israel but safeguarding America’s own security and the future of the free world.
Israel has shown the courage to act when others faltered. The U.S. must match that resolve, deploying its B-2 Spirit bombers and massive ordnance to finish what Israel started. Together, these two nations can dismantle Iran’s nuclear ambitions, ensuring that the world’s most dangerous regime never wields the world’s most dangerous weapon. The time for hesitation is over—America must stand with Israel and strike now.
